Book Recommendation…for the pastor’s soul

I have two books that always remain on my end table next to the chair in my living room where I read and pray in the mornings.  My Bible, and this book, The Valley of Vision.  It is a collection of puritan prayers that function as a invaluable guide to help me grasp the weight of my sin, focus on the glories of my Savior, and meet with God in a way few literary tools can.   I think I can safely say there is no other single resource that has taught me how to pray more meaningfully for the good of my soul than this little gem.  If you don’t have it, you must get it.  It is on sale for a great price here.

Pastors, this book, has fed my soul in real and significant ways.  I trust God will use it to accomplish a similar purpose in you.

Other souls been fed by this book?

My copy is on my office desk, right next to where I put my coffee, always ready to be used to lead my soul into substantial prayer. I wholeheartedly agree with you that it is of unspeakable value and helps one to see and savour the glories of our Saviour in a way few other resources do. Basically, my experience is the same as yours, we just keep the book on different tables.

the leather bound edition is really, really nice. I get distracted by all the “thee”s and “thou”s, but it makes for a good exercise to put things a little more in my own words.
