Book Recommendation…for the pastor’s encouragement

As a follow-up to my last post, I wanted to recommend a very helpful little book for those struggling with depression, or trying to help pull someone from it.  When the Darkness Will Not Lift, by John Piper is a very careful, thoughtful, and wise treatment of a sensitive subject and makes it very accessible to anyone desiring to seek God’s comfort when it is hard to find.  He gives great encouragement for those struggling and some practical helps how to fight for joy while in the midst of it.  This statement from the book represents the spirit of Piper’s biblical and comforting words throughout it, “”It is utterly crucial that in our darkness we affirm the wise, strong hand of God to hold us, even when we have no strength to hold him.”

You can find it for a great price here.
