History of the Shepherd’s House
The story of this property, marked by the pre-Civil War era, began with a small cabin built in the 1790’s. The Noltemeyer family purchased the property in the early 2000’s and discovered this old and deteriorating log cabin as the only structure that remained. As they began to evaluate this old cabin, they discovered its historical significance, which moved them to refurbish and preserve this landmark. A few years later, they began construction on a larger 6-bedroom log cabin that would be the centerpiece of the property that would become filled with sweet memories, pastoral solitude, and family gatherings for years to come.
In the summer of 2021, God brought together Brian Croft and Kyle Noltemeyer for a providential meeting. Kyle was looking for a way to use their family property to serve more pastors, while Brian was looking to find a property to launch the missing piece to the work of Practical Shepherding—The Shepherd’s House. In God’s kind providence, a partnership was formed between Practical Shepherding and the Noltemeyer family to try and utilize this beautiful property to serve hurting and discouraged pastors on a much larger scale.
How can I support the ministry of The Shepherd’s House?
Because our primary desire is to provide this ministry to pastors for free, there are two primary ways anyone can help support this important work:
Pray regularly for this ministry and the pastors who will be coming to stay. We welcome regular partners who will commit to pray for this specific work.
Give a financial gift to help us be able to provide this service for free. The cost for Practical Shepherding to have a pastor stay 2 nights and 3 days at The Shepherd’s House is between $750 - $850 for one pastor. Help us fund this work one pastor at a time.
